Honor veterans at Commerce City’s annual Memorial Day Parade

CEREMONY BEGINS AT 9:30 A.M. AT VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK Colorado’s largest Memorial Day Parade enters its 51st year of honoring veterans Monday, May 25, 2015. The 1.5-mile parade route kicks off at 10 a.m. at 64th Avenue and Newport Street, ending near the Recreation Center at 6060 Parkway Drive. The family-friendly, annual Memorial Day Parade honors veterans for their service to our country. This year’s event will feature the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Andrews Air Force Base, a skydiving tribute to our troops, and over 100 military units, bands, floats, antique cars and horse entries. Prior to the parade, the city will host a ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 9:30 a.m. to recognize this year’s grand marshals Albert Amador Jr., a veteran of the Korean Ward and Sergeant Major Jeffery Polliard, who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The parade is held rain or shine; parade participation and admission is free. More information is available at c3gov.com/parade. WHAT: 51st ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY PARADE City transportation is available for media who want to travel the parade route for video, sound and interviews with veterans, parade entrants and grand marshals. WHEN: MONDAY, MAY 25, 2015 • 9:30 a.m. ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park • 10 a.m. Parade begins WHERE: 1.5-mile parade route begins at the intersection of E. 64th Avenue/Newport Street and ends just west of 6060 Parkway Drive, Commerce City. Designated media parking is located on Forest Drive, adjacent to Veteran’s Memorial Park, 6015 Forest Drive, Commerce City. This is controlled access so please show credentials when entering from 60th Avenue.
