Commerce City Accepting Applications for a Public Art Project

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (Nov. 5, 2015) – The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council have started to implement the public art project associated with the voter-approved capital improvement program. The first of the public art project to be launched will be located at Pioneer Park, 5950 Holly Street. Qualifications are requested from artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site-specific public artworks(s). Qualifications are being accepted through November 30, 2015 and can be submitted online through CaFÉ™ (www.callforentry.org).

The Art Selection Committee will review all complete applications. A short list of semi­finalists will be invited to prepare and present a design proposal. A finalist may be selected from the semi­finalists’ proposals and recommended to the Cultural Council for approval. Upon the Cultural Council’s approval, the finalist proposal may be presented to City Council for final approval.

The project selection schedule is as follows:
Friday, November 13, 2015, 5:00 p.m. MST - Deadline for Questions
Monday, November 30, 2015, 11:59 p.m. MST - Deadline for Submissions
December 30, 2015 - Notify semi-finalists
February 2016 - Semi-finalists present proposals
March 8, 2016 - Cultural Council review
March 21, 2016 - City Council review
April 2016 - Execute artist contract
To be determined - Installation
