COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (November 8, 2015) – The Commerce City Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect and vehicle that were involved in a shooting of a Commerce City police officer this morning.
At about 7:10 a.m., an officer contacted a male driver in the 9700 block of Peoria St. While the officer was talking to the driver, the driver fired one shot hitting the officer in the torso. The suspect then drove southbound on Peoria St. and the officer shot at the suspect vehicle as it fled. The officer’s ballistic vest stopped the bullet and he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a late-90’s model maroon Nissan Pathfinder, with possible Colorado license plate of 679UNZ or 697UNZ. The vehicle may have minor right rear bumper damage and may have damage from the shots the officer fired at the vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late 40s/early 50s, with brown hair, thin build, wearing glasses and a black and white scarf around his neck. The Commerce City Police Department has requested the assistance of the Adams County Critical Incident to team to assist with the investigation.
