Alert: Trail detour on Sand Creek Regional Greenway at E. 64th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard

Trail Detour

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway Trail is detoured at E. 64th Avenue and a half-mile west of Colorado Boulevard November 2015 through May 2016, due to the Regional Transportation District’s North Metro Rail Line construction project. Construction crews are erecting piers for the overhead track line for the Skyway Bridge.

Fast Facts
• Construction on this part of the project is tentatively scheduled to be completed in May 2016, weather permitting.
• The trail is open 24 hours and the detour is a dirt compacted connection to move pedestrians and bicyclists around the construction area.
• Signage and barricades alerting users to the trail detour can be seen east and west of the construction site along the trail. You may occasionally see crew and large construction equipment along the trail.
• The Skyway Bridge is part of the 18.5-mile-long North Metro Rail Line project that will run from Denver Union Station through Commerce City, Northglenn and Thornton.
• The bridge will begin its northward rise south of York Street in Commerce City.
• At 9,533 feet long, the bridge will be the longest in RTD's FasTracks program and the longest bridge in Colorado.
• The Skyway Bridge is scheduled to open in 2018.

Questions or concerns regarding the trail closure can be directed to Parks Maintenance Supervisor Willis Waterhouse at 303-289-8111. For more information about RTD’s North Metro Rail Line visit http://www.rtd-fastracks.com/nm_2.
