Commerce City hosts 31st annual pancake breakfast May 7

– Rise and dine to delicious pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and coffee at the 31st annual pancake breakfast Saturday, May 7, at the Commerce City Recreation Center, 6060 E. Parkway Drive from 7-10 a.m. The annual pancake breakfast raises money for senior programs at the Commerce City Recreation Center. Last year, nearly 800 pancakes were served to more than 250 attendees and $600 was raised to benefit senior programs.

“The pancake breakfast is the senior center’s largest fundraiser and provides assistance in creating a positive quality of life for our older adult population,” said Derrick Tripp, senior programs supervisor. “This is a great community event with a pancake food truck and fun for the whole family.”

Tickets are $4 per plate and can be purchased in advance at www.c3gov.com/register, using the code 4601.208. Tickets are also available at the door on the day of the event. Pancakes are provided by Flippin’ Flapjacks food truck and local Commerce City sponsors include McDonalds and Save-A-Lot food stores.

In addition to the pancake breakfast, families are invited to enjoy FREE activities in the Commerce City Recreation Center gym. Kids can jump in the bouncy house, create art in the crafts corner and more. Adults can also bid on the quilting and sewing club’s fiber arts and crafts at the silent auction.

For the past 31 years, the annual pancake breakfast has raised money for programs dedicated to seniors at the Commerce City Recreation Center. The money raised from the pancake breakfast goes toward the Goodfriends program so that more seniors can get out, enjoy what the recreation center has to offer and make new friends.

Through the Goodfriends Scholarship, adults 55 and older can apply for partial funding of any and all recreation center activities, including fitness, memberships, trips, special events and educational programs. Applicants may receive an annual amount of up to $50 to credit toward activity registration fees. Applicants need not meet any income qualifications and all requests are confidential. Contact Zach Roth at 303-289-3720 or pick up a form at the senior center front desk in the recreation center.
