Get rid of your green yard waste on Saturday, May 14

If you have grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs or other compostable yard waste to discard following your spring clean-up efforts, take advantage of our FREE Green Yard Waste Drop Off Event at the civic center!

Saturday, May 14
8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Commerce City Civic Center – 7887 E. 60th Avenue
(note: please enter from Quebec Parkway using Prairie Parkway rather than E. 60th Avenue)

Commerce City residents are invited to bring yard waste, which can be difficult to fit in the garbage can, without using one of their five large-item pickups for the year. All material collected at the event goes to a composting facility rather than the landfill.

Free wood-chip mulch will also be available for residents to take on a first come, first served basis!

Acceptable materials include:
- Grass clippings
- Tree limbs/shrub trimmings (no more than 4 ft. long)
- Leaves
- Plant debris (e.g. weeds, flowers, garden materials etc.)
- Sawdust

The following materials are NOT accepted:
- Sod
- Lumber, plywood or construction debris
- Fencing
- Rock/brick/paving stones
- Flower pots
- Animal droppings
- Any non-organic material

All items are subject to individual review. Contact the Public Works Department at 303-289-8150 with questions about eligibility of other specific items.

Proof of residency is required. This event is open only to residents and not available to businesses, contractors or commercial entities. Another green yard waste event will be held in the fall.
