Celebrate the Fourth of July safely in Commerce City with the largest public fireworks show in the state of Colorado.Commerce City’s free annual 4thFest celebration, Monday, July 4, takes place outside at the south end of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (6000 Victory Way). Outdoor festivities kickoff at 5 p.m. with an inflatable obstacle course, bungee trampoline, Velcro wall, mechanical bull, food vendors, live music and more.
The Colorado Rapids take on the Portland Timbers at 7 p.m. (tickets at www.coloradorapids.com) while free festivities continue outside the stadium. Enjoy the alternative pop and rock tunes from Denver band 888, performing live on the Eighteen76 stage starting at 9 p.m. and again after the fireworks show. This is the largest game of the season and drivers may experience traffic congestion around the stadium during 4thFest.
Personal fireworks are illegal within city limits and the police department is increasing its patrol during the July Fourth holiday, as well as giving high priority to complaints regarding personal fireworks. All personal fireworks, even small sparklers, are illegal to possess, use, or sell within city limits and fines for violating the ban start at $100. To report a fireworks violation, call 9-1-1.
