Public Able to Pick up Memorials on Highway 2 Before they are Discarded

Commerce City is widening Highway 2 from two to four lanes between E. 72nd Avenue and I-76 to improve safety and increase capacity for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles. There are nine visible roadside memorials on Highway 2 between E. 72nd Avenue and I-76 that require removal during construction. See map with memorial images and descriptions.
If you have a memorial located in the area, please remove all items as soon as possible. If you have a formal CDOT memorial sign, please contact CDOT at 303-757-9662 for further assistance. Remaining memorial items will be carefully removed and stored for three months. Leave a message at 303-C3-WORKS (303-239-6757) to arrange the pickup of these items by March 12.
Commerce City understands that roadside memorials provide families a way to honor their loved ones and promote awareness of safe and sober driving; we want to make sure the public has an opportunity to retrieve these special memorials before they are discarded.
