The new RTD bus route #62 begins service Monday, Jan. 16 with a detour in place. Riders should be aware the civic center stop and the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park stop will not be in service at that time due to some road and pavement construction delays. The E. 56th Avenue/Central Park Boulevard and E. 60th Avenue/Quebec Street stops will be serviced and provide riders close access to those non-service stops. The detour is expected to remain in place through February and possibly longer.
The #62 route will run from Central Park Boulevard rail station north and then east to Highway 2 providing major public transit connection in the city. The new RTD Route 62 was made possible by grant money from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) with a goal of improving air quality by reducing vehicle emissions.
Currently planned schedules have the service running in half-hour increments between roughly 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, with slightly later starting and ending times scheduled for Saturdays. Special event service schedules will be offered on Colorado Rapids game days. Cost to ride the bus will be RTD’s established local route fare of $2.60.
