Celebrate the Fourth of July safely in Commerce City with the largest public fireworks show in the state of Colorado. Commerce City’s free annual 4thFest celebration, Wednesday, July 4, takes place outside at the south end of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (6000 Victory Way). Outdoor festivities kickoff at 5 p.m. with fun family activities including inflatables, face painters, outdoor games and much more.
The Colorado Rapids take on the Seattle Sounders FC at 7 p.m. (tickets at www.coloradorapids.com) while free festivities continue outside the stadium. The fun-filled, event also includes a free, post-fireworks concert from country music artist, Lucas Hoge. Fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m. following the game. Watch the fireworks live from inside the stadium (ticket holders only), or from the parking lots surrounding DSG Park. This is the largest game of the season and drivers may experience traffic congestion around the stadium during 4thFest.
Fireworks are illegal within city limits. To encourage safer festivities, the city recently increased the fine for possessing, manufacturing, storing, selling, handling, discharging or using fireworks within the city starting at $500 for the first offense and $750 for subsequent offenses. To report a fireworks violation, call the non-emergency line at 303-288-1535.
