- service is provided every other week

Commerce City 2024 Recycling & Waste Collection GuideFrequently asked questions about the Republic Services trash and recycling program can be found here:
Republic Services Program Details
- Trash is collected weekly in the 96-gallon can with the black lid
- Recycling is collected every other week in the 96-gallon can with the light blue lid
- All items must fit inside the can with the lid closed
- Additional can service is available for a small fee
- $3.18 per month for an additional trash cart ($38.10 for the year)
- $2.02 per month for an additional recycling cart ($24.24 for the year)
- Large-item pickup is included. Residents can schedule one bulk pickup per quarter for free. Additional pickups can be scheduled for $16 each. In addition, Republic Services holds one citywide bulk item day per year to collect up to five items from each home (details below).
- Place your containers out at the curb or in the alley no later than 7 a.m. Drivers will begin their collection promptly at 7 a.m. Place containers at least 2 feet apart and with 6 feet of space between any other objects at the curb.
Properly place your items for collection
- All recyclables should be empty, clean and dry. Do not bag your recyclables; leave them loose in the container, and make sure all recyclables are inside the container with the lid closed to limit wind-blown debris. Recycle plastic bags at your local grocery store or re-use in your home.
- Please bag all trash, as this cuts down on wind-blown debris and keeps your waste container cleaner. Items beside or on top of your waste container will not be picked up—make sure everything is inside the container with the lid closed.
Elements of the program include:
- Opportunity to opt-out of the recycling program and swap your recycling can for a second trash can with no fees once per year.
- More FREE landfill days at Republic Services Tower Landfill - a total of four per year.
- Additional yard waste disposal opportunities in partnership with A-1 Organics located here in Commerce City.
There are two options for Bulk Pickup:
Free Quarterly Bulk Pickup
Items that cannot fit inside your trash cart can be collected once per quarter at no extra charge. To find out if your item meets the size and weight requirements or to schedule, call Republic Services at 303.286.1200 (M-F, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) This pickup must be scheduled with Republic Services. You can schedule additional bulk item pickups any time for only $15 per item.
