The City collects several different types of taxes, including sales, use, accommodations, marijuana and telephone occupation utility taxes. Whenever these taxes are not reported and paid timely interest charges are assessed on the taxes owed. The interest rate is established annually by the Colorado State Division of Banking as provided for in Commerce City Code Regulation Section 20-8-2. The interest rate may change from year to year. The city does not directly collect property taxes, these are collected by Adams County.
Sales and Use Tax
Sales and use tax is the tax charged on any purchase. In the City, the sales tax rate is 9.25%.

Property Tax
Everyone in Commerce City pays the same property tax rate, but the total property tax bill amount depends upon where a property is located. This is because other entities such as schools and metro districts also collect property taxes to provide their services.
