Our Public Works and Parks, Recreation, and Golf departments have a wide variety of vehicles, trucks and mobile equipment utilized on a daily basis to help maintain and keep the city’s streets, parks, and public areas safe. Learn more about each of these vehicles and watch them in action!

Street Sweeper Side ViewStreet Sweeper

Purpose: Sweeps up debris on the roadways
Weight: 24,000 lbs.
What it can do: Gutter brooms on the equipment will pull material out of the gutter and allow the vacuum to pick up the debris.

Other Facts: Sweeping is extremely important for our health and the environment. Picking up the debris prevents it from becoming airborne and polluting the air as well as preventing it from reaching waterways and polluting our water..

Snow Plow Front View FarTandem Truck Snow Plow

Purpose: Clear roadways when snowy and icy conditions exist
Weight: Empty: 30,000 lbs. Loaded: 50,000 lbs.
What it can do: Move large quantities of snow off of the road and apply granular deicer to melt the snow and ice.

Other Facts: Software on the truck allows the City to track GPS location, if the plow is up/down, and if the truck is applying material.

Asphalt Truck Side ViewAsphalt Patch Truck

Purpose:  Multi-use piece of equipment that is used in the patching of potholes
Weight: Empty: 24,000 lbs.  Loaded: 32,000
What it can do: It carries hot or cold mix asphalt, tack oil, hydraulic tools, and hand tools to do a variety of asphalt repairs.

Other Facts: The patch truck has a built in heater that allows material to be used for several days after it is loaded.

Bobcat Side ViewBobcat Skid-steer

Purpose: This machine has many uses including but not limited to loading materials, digging, grinding asphalt and stumps, sweeping, trenching, snow removal, operating as a forklift, mowing, jackhammering pavement, and many more
Weight: 9,000 lbs without attachments.
What it can do: It is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment in the fleet. Many different attachments allow it to do a wide variety of tasks.

Mower Side ViewMower Tractor

Purpose: Mow grass in the right-of -way throughout the city
Weight: 18,000 lbs.
What it can do: Cuts a swath up to 14 feet.

Other Facts: Mowing the right-of-way down is both for aesthetics and for safety. Mowing provides visibility and mitigates fire hazards near roadways.

Seeder Front ViewSeeder

Purpose: Seeds large open space native areas
Weight: 3,900 pounds
What it can do: Till/turn soil over, level soil and seed all in the same pass. This one seeder does the job of three seeders all in one unit.

Other Facts: This large open space native seeder helps the Parks Division plant seed in large areas to perverse and restore native areas throughout the City.

Motor Grader Side ViewMotor-Grader

Purpose: Grade/level dirt roads and/or clean ditch lines.
Weight: 36,000 lbs.
What it can do: It can break up the road and till in material before leveling.
