HomeSnow Guardians
The Snow Guardians Program assists residents who are unable to clear public sidewalks adjacent to their property to comply with the Municipal Code due to age, disability, or other conditions. Sec. 6-2012 states that owners are responsible for the maintenance of their property with a duty to maintain any and all unsafe sidewalks.
Eligibility
- Resident of Commerce City, Colorado
- Unable to shovel public sidewalks due to:
- Age - 60 and older
- Other physical disability
The Snow Guardians Program only removes snow from areas that are considered public rights-of-way, such as sidewalks (service does not include driveways or walkways within private property), and does not provide services to non-residential properties or unincorporated Adams County. Applicants will be notified if they are approved for the program shortly after receiving the application. Individual applications must be submitted before every snowfall where assistance is required. Qualifying residents may apply before or after a snowfall, ideally 48 hours prior to the next projected snowfall.
Snow Guardians is a grant-funded program. Services are available on a first-come, first-served basis until grant funds have been exhausted.
