Environmental Policy & Programs

Overview

The city has launched a yearlong process to identify policies, strategies, and regulations that can improve overall environmental quality in Commerce City. The objectives of this work are to:

  • Analyze air quality and water quality impacts in the city
  • Create a community greenhouse gas inventory for 2019 and recommend policies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Develop strategies and policies for community wide sustainability and health
  • Craft a vision for making city operations more sustainable

We recognize that the city’s environmental policy efforts should focus on the needs of populations that are most directly influenced by negative environmental impacts. We also understand the need for equity when pursuing environmental improvements.

Environmental Policy Advisory Committee (EPAC)

EPAC is developing a Sustainability Roadmap that is action-oriented and ambitious to demonstrate environmental leadership, pollution reduction and a clean energy transition. It lays out an achievable pathways. If you have any comments, edits or additions, please email oquagliani@c3gov.com.

The city is actively recruiting members for the new Environmental Policy Advisory Committee (EPAC) to play an active role throughout this process especially from Ward III and south of E. 88 Ave.
