Trash and Recycling Program 

Trash and recycling services are provided to Commerce City residents at no additional cost for all single-family homes and duplexes in the city (service varies for other housing types). Learn more about the program at c3gov.com/trash

To make sure city rights-of-way (such as medians and roadsides) and open space areas are maintained in a manner that meets city ordinances, the city has implemented a comprehensive weed management plan. The program involves scheduled mowing of public corridors and spraying harmful weed species in order to improve the appearance of these areas and maintain sight lines for motorists and pedestrians.

Graffiti Prevention/Removal

The Code Enforcement Division coordinates free graffiti removal within the city. Learn more. Report any graffiti you see, and keep your property well-lit and clean to discourage it.

The city regularly undertakes projects and programs aimed at enhancing areas around the city. These may include neighborhood improvements, master plans, infrastructure updates, revitalization efforts and much more. Learn more

The Commerce City Public Works Department works to minimize the negative impacts of stormwater runoff by ensuring that stormwater systems are properly planned, constructed and maintained. Through monitoring drainage design of new construction projects and public education campaigns, the city provides overall stormwater management to help prevent flooding, protect water quality and preserve local waterways. Learn more

Commerce City is taking on new efforts to ensure the local environment is clean and healthy. We recognize the city’s responsibility to address environmental challenges and mitigate the impacts a rapidly changing global climate may have on our community. Healthy Places Initiatives

Commerce City is one of the few communities that has continued the HEAL (Healthy Eating, Active Living) initiative after the LiveWell Colorado grant funds ended. The city applied for and received the Colorado Health Foundation’s Healthy Places Initiative Grant to continue the momentum of the HEAL initiatives. Learn more about the Healthy Places Initiatives.

Commerce City has 840 acres of parks and open space throughout the community that include amenities from shelters, barbecue pits, volleyball and basketball courts and links to local trails. The city has over 25 miles of trails, some that link to the larger regional trail systems like the Sand Creek Regional Greenway.

The Parks Operations Division maintains the City’s parks, trails, open spaces including mowing, caring for trees and vegetation, litter control, restroom and park shelter cleaning, ball-field maintenance, irrigation system operation and maintenance, and snow removal from City buildings, parking lots, parks, and trails.
