The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in coordination with Commerce City, Adams County and the City and County of Denver, is conducting a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study for the Vasquez/I-270 interchange and Vasquez Boulevard between 52nd Avenue on the south and 64th Avenue on the north.
The intent of the Vasquez PEL study is to evaluate the existing and future operating conditions and define a vision for the area. The study is currently identifying potential alternatives that consider long-term transportation needs such as capacity, safety, access, connectivity for vehicles and freight as well as transit, pedestrian and bicycle needs for area residents and businesses.
The study is evaluating potential changes in the following locations:
- I-270 ramps at Vasquez Boulevard
- The intersection of Vasquez Boulevard, 60th Avenue and Parkway Drive
- The intersections of Vasquez Boulevard and 56th, 58th and 62nd Avenues
It is also looking at ways to accommodate pedestrians, bikes and transit along Vasquez Boulevard. The study’s finalized recommendations will be completed in September 2017.
