Picture of a Street Stormwater DrainStormwater tips for your home

Stormwater is rain, melted snow/ice or other precipitation that flows across the ground and pavement and either seeps into the soil or drains into storm sewers along streets. As the number of homes, roads and business in the city increases, stormwater runoff also increases because there is less exposed soil and vegetation to naturally absorb and contain pollutants.

    How can you help:

    • Keep vehicles maintained and dispose of all fluids properly
    • Use pesticides and fertilizers sparingly
    • Keep trash, pet waste, and debris out of street gutters
    • Plant native plants and grasses
    • Don’t overwater your lawn
