What is an Organized Event?

An organized event is a prearranged activity or festivity which may attract more than 50 people at any one time that has the potential to create property damage, injury, public disturbances, traffic, police activity, trash or other adverse effects to the community.

Permit Requirements

A Temporary Event and Use Permit (TEU) is required for an organized event that takes place in a location, street, field, venue or space that was not constructed for such a use. See the table below for examples.

A multi-day event need only apply for one TEU. In such cases, ensure the specific dates are noted.

If you are unsure if your event requires a TEU, please contact the city at 303-227-8777. Apply for a TEU permit using eTRAKiT and upload the required documents as listed below in electronic format (PDF). A fee is required to paid prior to permit issuance. Minimum Submission Documents

  • A site plan of the event's location identifying the following at a minimum, when applicable.
    • Adjacent streets and buildings
    • North arrow
    • Location of existing structures
    • Location of proposed temporary structures, tents, canopies
    • Fencing with type and height identified
    • Restroom facilities or portable toilets
    • Source of electricity; if a generator, identify kilowatt rating
    • Stages, gantries, grandstand or related structures
    • Type of parking surface
    • Number of parking spaces provided
    • Parking areas and driveway entrances
    • Sound system and lighting
    • Location and size of signs or banners
    • Trash containers or dumpsters
    • Booths or exhibit areas
    • Vehicles or trailers used in the event
  • Drawings, manufacturer's literature and other professionally-prepared documentation related to stages, gantries, tents, canopies, grandstands, etc.
