The Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards (ACMCYA) is a program that recognizes youth, grade 6-12, up to 20 years of age, who have overcome personal adversity to create positive change in their lives.  The award program provides business, community, and civic leaders an opportunity to actively demonstrate their believe in and support for the young people in our communities.

Levels of Recognition

Award recipients are determined through a nomination and selection process.  All nominees are recognized at the local level by individual jurisdictions.  A selection committee comprised of representatives from the county and local jurisdiction, screens all nominations and selects 20 nominees to be recognized at a county-wide celebration in the spring of each year.

Who Can Nominate

Anyone who knows a deserving young person who has risen to meet challenges while maintaining a positive attitude and serving as a role model for other teens can submit a nomination.

The County and cities within Adams County run the program and Adams County Education Consortium coordinates the program. Cities that participate are Aurora, Arvada, Bennett, Brighton, Commerce City, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster.
