City of Commerce City, CO
HomeCCPD 2024 Citizens’ Academy
The Commerce City Police Department is excited to be hosting our first-ever Citizens’ Police Academy! This is a free, nine-week class that will be held on Wednesdays from 6pm until 8:30pm, beginning September 11.
The purpose of the academy is to give community members who live and/or work in Commerce City or the surrounding communities in Adams County an opportunity to learn first-hand about the inner workings of the police department. Police and civilian personnel will do interactive demonstrations (participant participation is encouraged!) using our specialized equipment and provide an overview of each unit within the police department and how they work together to keep you safe.
Bear in mind, Citizens’ Academy is not designed to train community members as police officers nor to give civilians police authority of any kind.
The police department will consider applicants who:
- live, work, or volunteer in Commerce City or Adams County (with preference given to Commerce City residents/employees)
- are 18 years of age or older
- are willing to sign a Waiver of Liability
- have not been convicted of a violent felony (or any felony in the last five years)
